Beatin Path Rhythm Events

Based in Atlanta Georgia, Beatin’ Path Rhythm Events serves the southeast and beyond with professional drum circles, performances and educational programs. Founded by nationally recognized facilitator & world percussionist Dave Holland, Beatin’ Path is a team of highly skilled performers and facilitators committed to providing rhythm events that are interactive, dynamic, and memorable! We combine years of experience with the highest standards of excellence to create programs specifically designed to meet the needs of your community, school, or workplace



Dave Holland

Dave Holland Dave is founder and primary performer and facilitator of all Beatin' Path programs and drum circles.

For over 10 years, Dave has spread the message of community, teamwork, diversity, and environmental awareness through rhythm based events.

Dave has traveled to Cuba, West Africa, and Brazil to pursue his continuing education of the world's cultures and drumming traditions. He has presented at the Percussive Arts Society's International Conference, the International Orff-Schulwerk Conference, the National Drum Circle Facilitator’s Conference, along with statewide music conferences in Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Michigan & lllinois.

He is the author of Drumagination, A Rhythmic Guidebook for Music Teachers, Music Educators & Drum Circle Facilitators, the co-creator of Rhythm Planet Workshop, the creator of the Interactive Rhythm Line of Instruments, and leader of Ritmo Blu, Young Audiences popular world percussion trio.

His kids cd, Drummin’ Songs & Jam Alongs was released in early 2010.



Jason Currin

Jason Currin Jason Currin is a member of Ritmo Blu and independent artist & educator. He has built a reputation for his unique brand of music education through his many classes, workshops, residencies, camps and festivals.

A graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Jason was a member of ensembles at The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory and Boston Conservatory. He was awarded the first grant from the Bryan Oliver Memorial Fund for Outstanding Artistic Achievement and was a winner of the North American Talent Search.

In 2007, he created a brand new forum for percussion in the state of Georgia with Jason Currin’s Ultra Terrific Udu Xylorimba Tom Tom Gong-a-Thon…A Percussion Extravaganza!!! As a performer, Jason has appeared around the world: in France and the Netherlands with Live Ambiance, throughout Central Europe with Halfway to Hoboken, and for two European tours as Principal percussionist with MIT Symphony Orchestra.

He is featured on many recordings, including ARC Records’ Percussion of the World and the Paris Conservatory recording of third-stream duo Halfway to Hoboken. Stateside, Mr. Currin performed as guest percussionist with Boston Musica Viva, a top interpreter of contemporary chamber music, and as Principal percussionist with Soria Chamber Players.

Rafael Pereira

Rafael Pereira Beatin’ Path team member “Rafa” Pereira grew up in São Paulo, Brazil.  Inspired by the contagious sounds of street rhythms , parades and outdoor concerts, he began studying drums and percussion at the age of 12.

In Brazil, he had the opportunity to attend workshops with acclaimed percussionists such as Airto Moreira, Nana Vasconcelos, Guello, Marcos Suzano and Alex Acuna, among others. 

His playing style is a fusion of traditional styles of Samba, Choro, Frevo, Maracatu, Baião and various styles of contemporary music.

 As a teenager, Rafa co-founded and directed a samba ensemble, composing music and booking performances. After graduating from high school in 2002, he relocated to Atlanta and began widening his studies in World Music.  Since then he has performed with several local artists, including guitarist Sasha Lisnichuk, drummer Sonny Emory & Rua 6.   

Rafa has presented at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention,  is leader of “Bratuque”, a Pearl Percussion Artist.

Emrah Kotan

Emrah Kotan Emrah came to the United States from his native Turkey, received a Master's degree in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University, and quickly began making his mark on the Atlanta music scene.

He is a member of the award-winning jazz trio, International Groove Conspiracy and is currently working on his solo project, due for release in Fall 2010.

Emrah's original compositions and arrangements range from soft, melodious ballads to flavorful brews of jazz fusion with a touch of world percussive spice. When he’s not busy being on the most eclectic and crowd-pleasing drummer around, Emrah shares his passion for percussion by teaching privately and as the director of the Jazz and World Percussion Ensembles at Agnes Scott College.

Jerry Fields

Jerry Fields Long before joining the Beatin’ Path team, Jerry was the most recognized name on the Atlanta percussion scene. During the 70’s Jerry toured the states with the Hampton Grease Band and shared the stage with Frank Zappa, Dave Brubeck, The Grateful Dead, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Captain Beefheart and the Tony Williams Lifetime and others. He currently performs with his own group Vecinos Del Mundo and the Ted Howe Trio.

His passion for flamenco has resulted in collaborations with many international artists, including Alfonso Cid, Antonio Vargas, Chayito Champion, Arturo Martinez, Marija Temo, Ricardo Diaz, John Lawrence Antonio Hildago, and Ulrika Frank.

A total percussionist, Jerry has performed with the Cobb Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, Atlanta Chamber Players, Thamyris, the Kokopelli Consort, Consonare and the Atlanta Brass Works.

When not on stage, Jerry shares his love of all things rhythm with private students and as clinician at many regional colleges and high schools.

Angel Shannon

Angel Shannon Whether on stage, or in the middle of a rockin’ drum circle, Angel Shannon’s enthusiasm for dance and rhythm is contagious.

Angel began dancing at the age of 3 and has 7 years experience teaching African dance to children and adults. She currently has 12 years of classical ballet and 10 years of African dance training including study in Mali (West Africa).

Angel has studied under various eminent artists including Papa Camara of the Ballet of Senegal and Nashville Ballet Company.

She currently stays busy running her own dance company—EthnoExpresso-- which has found its own niche in exciting large crowds to dance through simple step-by-step instruction.




Andrea Moreira

Andrea Moreira

Born in Brazil, Andrea began her career as a professional ballerina.

In 1993, Andrea moved to Atlanta, and quickly became immersed in the local dance community, performing at the Festival of Culture, the 1996 ParaOlympics Closing Ceremony Parade, and various corporate events. 

She is the director/choreographer of the group DANCE BRASIL and has been featured in the music video “Mas Que Nada” by the Blackeyed Peas and Sergio Mendes.  

As a popular belly dancer, Andrea, aka “Azima”, has performed at numerous conventions, galas, theatres, and parties, including a birthday bash for Ted Turner!
