Drumming Up the Stories” brings world folk tales to life through drumming, song, and audience participation. Audiences learn how the drum was first used to communicate, how music can enhance storytelling and how instruments can be created from ordinary objects.
With stories from places like Ghana, India, Ireland and Tibet, students are introduced to new cultures, languages, and lessons, all woven together by world drumming, sound effects and folk songs. More... |

This interactive, hands on program combines more than 100 percussion instruments from around the world with in-depth knowledge of their origin and cultural context. Audiences are given an “up close and personal” look into a culture's music and the rhythm instruments used to make that music.
Through live instrument demonstrations and an opportunity to touch and play many of the instruments on display, audiences learn about the science of sound production and how natural resources are used to create drums and rhythm instruments.
