This interactive, hands on program combines more than
100 percussion instruments from around the world with
in-depth knowledge of their origin and cultural context.
Audiences are given an “up close and personal”
look into a culture's music and the rhythm instruments
used to make that music. Through live instrument
demonstrations and an opportunity to touch and play
many of the instruments on display, audiences learn
about the science of sound production and how natural
resources are used to create drums and rhythm instruments.
Great for individual classroom settings and small
groups of all ages! World Drum Petting
Zoo is also available as a manned, interactive exhibit.
"I did not know there
were so many different kinds of instruments! It
is amazing that people made all those instruments by
hand!" Mary Cathryn, 4 grade
Clemson, SC
